Before I started the topic I chose, I had a small amount of prior knowledge. The overall topic of electric vs. gas powered cars seemed as though it was a one-sided argument in our society, however the argument that went against electric cars intrigued me the most as it went against social standards and had convincing evidence to back it up. As I was researching, I came across the problem of finding articles that specifically pertained towards the argument of why gas-powered vehicles are better than electric powered vehicles in some respects. The overall research in our society has been to encourage innovation and articles in support of gas-powered vehicles would not be as popular or easy to find as articles supporting electric vehicles. This piece revealed to me that not all innovation can lead to a better result as seen in the source of where electric vehicles derive power from. In some ways my essay was like the essays written by my classmates in which I have used the evidence that I have found in order to inform the reader about both sides of the argument. Most of the arguments that were written seemed impartial as to which side was the better over the other. In most essays the majority of the articles used were to compare the cons of each side more so than pro of each side, which is a small observation. If I were to do this piece over again, I would try and research more journal articles pertaining towards the effects that both types of vehicles have on the environment to a greater extent as this topic seems to be a current issue amongst the citizens of our planet. The lasting effects, the health effects and the effects of future generations are some of the topics that I believe would need to be taken into consideration more in order to decide which mode of transportation is better.
